This project involved the careful removal of existing fixtures, installation of new lighting systems, and coordination with electrical and ceiling infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and integration with the facility’s operational requirements.
Urban’s performed a comprehensive lighting replacement project at the WSU Cafeteria, providing upgraded illumination, improved energy efficiency, and enhanced visual comfort for students, staff, and visitors. The project involved the careful removal of existing fixtures, installation of new lighting systems, and coordination with electrical and ceiling infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and integration with the facility’s operational requirements.
The project began with a detailed assessment of the existing lighting systems, including fixture locations, wiring, and electrical capacity. Urban’s team coordinated with facility management to schedule work in a way that minimized disruption to cafeteria operations and student traffic. Safety protocols were strictly enforced during all stages of the project, including temporary power isolation, protective measures around dining areas, and safe access to elevated ceiling spaces.
Selective demolition of existing lighting fixtures was performed first. Urban’s carefully removed outdated or underperforming fixtures, wiring, and supports, ensuring minimal disruption to ceilings, walls, and adjacent finishes. All removed materials were safely disposed of in accordance with environmental and safety regulations.
New lighting installation included high-efficiency LED fixtures designed to provide uniform illumination, reduce energy consumption, and improve overall visibility within the cafeteria space. Fixtures were strategically placed to optimize light distribution across dining areas, food service counters, and circulation paths, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics. Urban’s coordinated installation with ceiling grids, diffusers, and architectural features to maintain a clean, professional appearance.
Electrical work included installation of new wiring, junction boxes, switches, and connections to ensure compliance with local codes and integration with the building’s existing electrical infrastructure. Urban’s verified proper circuit loading, grounding, and control functionality to guarantee safety and reliable operation. Where required, coordination with lighting controls and occupancy sensors was completed to support energy efficiency goals and provide automated lighting management.
Throughout the project, Urban’s maintained close communication with facility staff, providing updates on progress and ensuring that the cafeteria remained safe and functional during construction. Quality inspections were performed at each stage to confirm proper installation, alignment, and operation of all lighting fixtures.
The completed lighting replacement project delivered a brighter, more energy-efficient cafeteria environment with improved visual comfort and operational reliability. Urban’s attention to detail, coordination with electrical and ceiling systems, and commitment to safety and efficiency ensured the project met both code requirements and the university’s standards for facility performance, creating a welcoming and well-lit environment for all occupants.
